Let's go fly a kite!!!!

Here's a fun little kite project that my daughter Hope and I came up with!

First pick your favorite color string!

Then get a regular size (8.5 x 11) piece of white computer paper and decorate to your liking! Fold the paper in on either side so it forms a paper airplane. Make a hole in all three points... top of triangle and both lower sides.

Tie a string through the points and tie the other end of the string to a pencil, this is what you will hold on to.

NOW RUN!!! And have fun!!!

Kindergarten and Pre-K all in the same day!!!

Tears of pain plus tears of joy and of course most of them came from mommy!!! And a few from Turner but he  rebounded nicely... I only had to call his class three times to check on him! ;)

Beyond the great amount of concern on Hope's face she ended up doing great as well!!!

Birds of a feather....

For our project this week we decided to utilize all the bird feathers we've been collecting around the ranch over the summer.

One of our favorite things to do this summer has been feather hunting! I think we've collected over a hundred feathers, all beautiful and unique. For the kids it's a great way to learn about all the different birds that live in our area and for us mom's it's a great way to break up these looooong summer days!!

To put our feathers to use I decided we should make them into wreathes. Just go to your local craft store and get a plain styrofoam circle and start sticking in the feathers at an angle. You can place them however you'd like although I found that overlapping them and changing the direction worked best. No glueing or taping required, very clean and simple!

Have fun!!!

Horsing Around!

Today we decided to just horse around... literally. We brought the horses buckets of carrots and watched as they chomped away. Both my kids LOVE animals but I have to say horses are at the top of their list. Horses also love apples but we usually go with carrots since there's more distance between your finger and their mouth ;)

Create your own art show!

Here's a fun twist on art projects! We've done many canvas projects through the years but today I thought it would be fun to take it to another level. Like creating our own art show in our living room.

We all painted or created something artistic then put it on display.

We even created our own kid friendly drinks and apps. To make these fun looking champagne flute drinks simply place a few drops of food coloring in water and dip the rim of the glass in suger.. yummy!

We had a great time explaining our pieces and appreciating everyone else's! Enjoy the pics and please give it a try!

Fiesta Round 2!

Time for our annual Rodeo visit. It's my favorite part of fiesta and gives us an excuse to throw on our boots and cowboy hats!

Fiesta Fun!

We are currently on a crafting hiatus so we can explore and enjoy Fiesta.  I love Fiesta and now it seems so do my kids. Five days of fun with a variety of events from exploring De La Guerra plaza to buying beautifully painted confetti eggs or watching the dancers at the Santa Barbara Mission.. there is truly something for everyone. Here are some pictures to share our experience thus far...
